"I was recommended this back protector by a friend in the know and I'm glad I took his advice. The thick rubber and foam actually fits inside leathers easily and gets softer with body heat, so it moulds to the shape of your back. It's very comfy, but gets a bit sweaty. My back was unharmed, but I was bruised a little where the back protector stops - so I reckon the protector took a fair few whacks. Forcefield say it's designed to be used again - a lot of protectors are scrap after one crash, so I reckon being able to re-use it offsets the higher price over other products."

"In the spring of this year I bought a 2-piece made to measure suit as I was doing more trackdays and I didn't feel my Dainese suit was up to it. I crashed at over 80mph a month ago at Snetterton, the suit was intact bar 1 tiny hole in the surface of the keprotec. My Helmet & gloves were trashed.

Earlier on the same day I saw a similar crash to mine at 40 mph and the guy's suit was not good after, not only that but as he was with mates he stayed all day, and 3 hrs later he could barely move -due to the poor/non-existent hip armour! I had NO ill effects (other than pride!) at all.

Another trackday a week ago (Brands)a lad highsided & the suit fell apart at the seams - and it was not a "cheap" suit. I can testify personally to the quality of Kate & co's work, and while originally it was not cheap, the suit is repaired not scrapped, and I have had no time away from work due to injury! That is something most people do not factor into the price of a suit..."

I recently had a 80mph+ crash at Snetterton on a trackday, and am pleased to tell you that thanks to my recently purchased Hideout suit (this spring) I didn't even have a bruise!! The suit had a little bit of scuffing which only needs minor attention.
 
To say I was chuffed would be an understatement. Putting it in perspective, another rider fell in the morning in the same type of accident wearing "popular" leathers at low(ish) speed and by the afternoon he was aching badly and his suit was badly damaged. I walked away with no ill effects at all.

"I've hade my made to measure two piece touring trousers and classic 'lancer' jacket for 2 months now and have to admit made to measure is worth the extra cost.

Although my knuckles dont quite scrape the floor, I apparently have a long body! Kate, Pete and Sandra, after doing her famous soft armour drop test demo, persuaded me to have a fitting. Three visits, and lots of humourous advice from Pete later, my Hideout suit was ready, four weeks from first fitting.

Hideout offer total choice of arm length, Kevlar or double leather on sensitive areas, in fact a bespoke service with the best quality leather and other materials, for a modest increase in what you would pay for off the peg Italian 'Designer' kit.

It is reasuringly heavy, but the weight dissapears when wearing, and is so comfortable you can forget you're wearing it. Even the optional jacket back protector is unobtrusive.

Leathers made this well, looked after, will last decades, so sorry Pete, I probably won't be buying another one!"

"Made to measure suits' test results were significantly better than the off the pegs suits. Average abrasion time is up 130 per cent and average burst is up 156 per cent... Hideout and Crowtree did best in abrasion. AM, Bks, Hideout, Branded and Crowtree's burst results easily passed the CE test. Bks and Hideout suits' armour was the thinnest, most flexible armour here and was the best."

"Being an odd shape I had to go for made-to-measure and I am glad I did, they do the job very well, you only need to see my last set that are still in a good condition considering I crashed six times.

"Hideout is a British company specializing in made to measure leathers and it has scored maximum marks in our test.

Only a titanium-covered Dianese knee section lasted longer on the abrasion rig than Hideout’s 87.24 seconds and it took a plastic-covered Alpinestars shoulder to last longer than Hideout’s 65.29 seconds in the shoulder abrasion test.

Both the elbow and hip sections lasted all the way to our maximum 1000kpa measurement – 200kpa above the level needed to score top marks.

The armour was the best on test, too. The average energy passing through the four protectors was 13.67kn, well below the maximum of 35.

If we were to rank the suits from one to 18 on their performance, the hideout suit would be ranked firmly at the top of the list."
